Lessons Learned

  • Work:
    • Prompt escalation is important. To hit deadlines, it is important to let leadership know when there are blockers to hitting deadlines
    • Make sure there is feedback loop in communication. If the receiver does not respond to pings in Teams, it means that the message was not seen. It also means that the sender’s message was not read. The sender has the burden to follow up or escalate.
  • Personal:
    • Take 15 minutes to do a chore.
    • House is less messy today because of a Sunday clean up session. One thing led to another. Daughter wanted to give her room a new look. This prompted me to use the tubs in the garage. That action then prompted me to put together the shelf I bought from Costco. Then I noticed that Dough’s side of the room is to bright. This prompted me to exchange the curtain for the one at daughter’s room. But I noticed it was dusty so I decided to wash it. And then since I’m already doing one curtain, I thought, why not wash all the curtains? They’ve been unwashed for at least 2 years!!! I know, I know… I need to be better at house management!
  • Financial
    • I booked a hotel for our Louisiana trip in September
    • I learned a lesson years ago. It’s better to book directly at the hotel instead of using these 3rd party apps. It’s a good thing I remembered that lesson. I realized I can get almost 50% off if I get the Marriott credit card! I just need to remember to keep that card paid up so I don’t pay any annual fees or interest!
